I will post a link to the specific product I am testing in case you want to check it out for yourself. I am in no way getting paid to do this but I do get the opportunity to get some fun products at a discount.
Today's product is AILIHEN SE 1200 FreeSport Earbuds. The case says they are made for iPod, iPhone and iPad. They have a 3.5mm audio jack, noise cancellation, call answer button, in line microphone, sweat & weather resistant (which means you can run in the rain but not wear them in the shower) and have proprietary ear tips that conform to your ears. It has a clip on the cable to add some stability while running and comes with 3 different size bud covers. In the picture below I have the smallest size loaded onto the buds so the Medium and Large sizes are stored in box.
Now that I have told you the basic details of the product, let me tell you what I love about them and how I tested them. Of course, the first thing I love is that it comes with 3 different size bud covers. I have TEENY tiny ears and most athletic ear gear doesn't fit me. I can't even wear those foamy ear plugs because no matter how I twist or push, much to the frustration of my hubby, they ALWAYS fall out. These come "pre loaded" with the medium size on them. I tried the medium and they felt fine honestly, but I changed them to the small and loved how they felt. I was a little worried they would be too small and fall out but they stayed in place perfectly. I also really like that they provided a set of replacement ear tips so I don't have to feel like in 6 months I will need to go searching for a replacement set. Everything about my initial look and concept said, "quality"
So, I put them on, plugged them into my phone and turned on some tunes while sitting on my living room floor. The sound quality is GREAT. It cancelled out my TV show and I only heard music. I turned it down to the lowest and could faintly hear it but still could tell that there was music on somewhere. While I was testing this I had a friend call and I got to answer her call. She stated that I sounded a bit weird like I was on speaker phone but her voice quality was very clear and I was happy with that quality. I probably wouldn't use it as my primary phone substitute but I definitely wouldn't mind answering a call during a work out. (I hope that makes sense)
Next, I turned it up SUPER loud and couldn't handle it. It was so incredibly loud. I could take the ear buds out and my hubby could hear the song sitting two feet away from me. There is no way I would recommend anyone listening to them that loud. I then waited until my kiddos got home from school and then turned on the TV to pandora and with the TV on and kids running around I put my earphones in and turned my music up and I couldn't hear my children or the TV and it was beautiful. I listened to my music while I made dinner and they could dance to their music without me going bonkers.
The ear tips are SOFT and pliable so they are easily adjusted to any ear. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the ear tips and how much stability they actually offered.
I waited until my run that night to really put them to the test. Running is usually when any of my ear gear shows it's true colors. The small ear canal mixed with the jostling and sweat always leads to some type of music disaster while running. I am happy to say though, these passed the test. all the tests, they stayed put, it was easy to change my music volume and I couldn't hear my feet hitting the treadmill which usually throws off my concentration. I NEVER felt like I needed to readjust them, push them back in or fiddle with them in any way. I LOVE the clip on the cord so that I could clip it to my shirt to reduce the bouncing the cord usually does while running. They felt stable, secure and comfortable while I pushed my limits during a run. They didn't distract and they actually added a sense of security to my run. I then came in and used them while doing mountain climbers, push ups, sit ups, leg lifts and jumping jacks. Guess what? They never moved. These were so amazing, I had my husband try them and he loved them so much I went back and bought a second pair and didn't even mind paying full price for them. These were a TOTAL WIN for our family.
